January / February Newsletter

Dear Pet Parent,

Merry Christmas and a blessed, happy, and healthy New Year! We sincerely hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. We truly enjoyed our first holidays with your pups!

Let’s Celebrate! – As we welcome the new year, we are excited to celebrate our one-year anniversary in business! February 3, 2026 is the big day. Watch for the fun activities we will have throughout this week to make this day memorable. In addition, to commemorate this special occasion, we will be hosting a holiday hike (weather permitting) on Saturday, February 7. Stay tuned for more details coming soon!

Coming in January! – Introducing our Scent Space! Dogs have an extraordinary sense of smell—up to 100,000 times more sensitive than humans! Harnessing this incredible ability can bring immense joy and stimulation to their daily lives. Each smell is like reading a different book for a dog. That’s why we’re excited to introduce the Scent Space Experience, a unique addition to our dog daycare/day camp and boarding designed to provide enrichment, relaxation, and fun for our furry friends. The Scent Space is an area dedicated to scent-based activities, including plants, essential oils, obstacles and textures. It’s a place where dogs can use their powerful noses to explore, relax, and satisfy their natural instincts. This experience is not only enjoyable; it also provides mental stimulation, helping to reduce boredom and improve overall behavior. Our research will ensure that all activities in this area are safe for your pups.

Inclement Weather Policy – We will follow the Kewaskum School District’s policy for weather-related closures. If the Kewaskum School District cancels school for the day, our daycare and day camp will also close. We will announce any closures on our Facebook page. Please note that your daycare or day camp reservation will be canceled at no cost. Boarding dogs will continue to receive their usual care.

Cancellation policy – We understand that life can be unpredictable, and sometimes we cannot plan for changes. Therefore, we are happy to accommodate daycare/day camp cancellations made up to 24 hours in advance. Starting January 5, if a cancellation is made less than 24 hours before your reservation, we will charge a small cancellation fee: $10 for half-day reservations and $20 for full-day reservations. Please be advised that no shows will also incur these fees.

Playroom Usage – As the number of nice days for dogs to be outside decreases, our indoor playrooms are in constant use starting at 8 am. Please remember that the entrance to the playroom is strictly for STAFF ONLY. For safety reasons, walk-ins to the playrooms are not permitted. Since not all dogs are in the same playgroups, only staff members are allowed to bring dogs to the playrooms.

Conversations – We genuinely enjoy chatting with all of you! However, during busy pick-up or drop-off times, we may not have time for conversation. It’s important to minimize the number of dogs in the lobby and avoid keeping our staff or other customers waiting with a dog. If you need to have an important conversation with us or if we need to have a conversation about your pup, it would be better to have a distraction-free phone call.

Trail Walks – Please continue to sign up for trail walks even with the uncertain weather. If weather conditions are not suitable for a trail walk, we will replace it with an enrichment class.

We’re thrilled to have you on this journey with us! If you have any questions or concerns about the information provided, don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re here for you! Your understanding of our policies means the world to us. Thank you for trusting us with your beloved furry family members over the past year. We can’t wait to continue bringing you and your pups the very best in the years ahead! Get excited for all the exciting adventures that await!

Happy Tails,

The Tails & Trails Team
